Omnium Mini 3.1 Frame Kit
V3.1 brings the biggest update to the Mini yet. The frame now uses the same rack-mounting system as the Cargo and Mini-Max, opening the door for upgrades such as the tilting rack bracket. The rack itself has been redesigned with round tubing for a cleaner look, and for dynamo-light compatibility. With the new rack comes new webbing, using the v2 dual-axis design for the round-tube rack that also comes with the Nano.
For the update, we’re also introducing the V3.1 fork, which has already been added to the Cargo and Mini-Max models.
The biggest change is the replacement of the XS with a Step Through (ST) version, to allow for a bigger audience to be able to fit the Mini and make the bike easier to use for anyone wanting to run rear-mounted child seats.
The OMNIUM Mini is a fast, agile reimagining of the short john bike, built to handle surprisingly heavy loads. Its compact size makes it easy to manoeuvre and integrates simply with both smaller residences and multimodal transport.
The front rack is ideal for anything too bulky and uncomfortable to carry on your back. You can keep your belongings in sight and carry serious weight all day without the bike feeling overloaded.
The 29-inch rear wheel helps the Mini effortlessly keep pace over longer distances, giving it an edge over other short john designs. Full rear rack mounts let you attach a range of panniers or rack mounted child seats, ideal for urban commuters.
Unlike many cargo bikes, the Mini rides like a regular bike. It feels quick, stable, safe and intuitive. Adapting to the Mini takes minutes and you quickly wonder how you managed without it.
DESIGN
The Mini is designed around a 55 mm (2.15 inch) tyres front and rear. Bigger tyres come with plenty of benefits, and these are the ones that matter most. High volume tyres run at lower pressure, which gives you a natural layer of cushioning between you and the road. The result is more comfort, more control, and an easier ride on rough surfaces like gravel, cobblestones, and battered city streets.
We have also updated the frame with the new v3.1 segmented fork that still comes with thru axles. Thru axles first appeared on downhill mountain bikes in the late 90s, and these days they are the standard on most disc brake bikes. They make perfect sense on a cargo bike. This setup increases stiffness, improves braking performance, handles heavy loads more securely, and reduces the chance of incorrect installation or brake rub.
